The 3D Tech Model 500 is our base model CNC router platform.  It is made entirely of extruded aluminum sections with incredible strength and rigidity.   A sturdy base with front and back full width legs provides stability, and C-Beam extrusions form the axis actuators.  The C-beam profile provides amazing rigidity with little weight.  The actuators are lead screw type with 200 step/revolution NEMA 23 motors for maximum accuracy and robustness.  The Y-Axis actuators have a nominal length of 500mm.  Travel is somewhat less than the overall length to allow for width of the carriage, etc.

Each axis rides on a 10-wheel carriage with v-wheels both inside the track and out.  The wide wheel spacing provides maximum strength and stiffness, while allowing the carriages to move freely.  There are 2 Y-Axis actuators, one for each side of the Y-Axis, each with its own motor.  The Y-Axis actuators are positioned with their lead screws facing outwards to prevent buildup of debris in the lead screw pockets.  The X-Axis gantry is also 500mm length, supported by two extruded side supports for improved stiffness.  It moves on the two Y-Axis wheeled gantry plates and supports the Z-Axis actuator.  The two Y_Axis gantries are joined by a brace under the table that adds to the gantry stiffness.  The X- and Z- Axes are both lead screw driven with NEMA 23 motors.

The Z-Axis is 250mm in length, with a mount for a standard palm router.  It has full length travel of around 150mm, which allows for milling of fairly tall objects.  A brace mounted on the X-Axis gantry cam be moved up to allow milling of taller objects.  The X-Axis actuator can be lowered by swapping its position with the brace to provide extra stiffnes for machining aluminum plates and other thin materials.  The Z-Axis actuator is also mounted with the lead screw pocket facing away from the work surface to eliminate the possibility of debris buildup.

An MDF spoil board is mounted in the bottom of the frame and bolted to the frame to make the base one solid piece.  An additional spoil board over the bed is recommended, as it is difficult to change the bed.  There is plenty of clearance to add an additional spoil board to make swapout easier.  The spoil board is cut perfectly square and to exact size, providing reinforcement and keeping the sides of the base paralell and square.  Additionally, the base has 3 20x40mm brace beams running front to back between the feet.  These beams are bolted to the feet, the c-beams, and the spoil board for maximum strength and rigidity   

The system comes fully assembled, tested, and calibrated, and includes includes our exclusive Integrated Electronics Panel, with 24V, 350W power supply, Arduino preprogrammed with GRBL, 4 Stepper Motor Drivers, and USB Cable.  Full Cable Chain management is used throughout.  71mm Router Mount and E-Stop switch included.  All v-wheels are the Extreme duty type, anti-backlash leadscrew nuts, heavy duty motor mounts and extra bed support are standard.  Black anodized option is available only for V-slot extrusions, ie frame feet, uprights, and braces, all other brackets are powder coat black.  C-beam is available only in clear anodized finish.  Router spindle and tooling is not included, but can be supplied as an option.  G-Code software, 3D Cad software, and incidental software not included.
